The name

Cinema Club was already taken.

We wanted to call this Cinema Club. Plain, obvious, exactly what the product is. That name, and the domain that goes with it, was already taken.

Rather than let the idea go, we found another way to keep it. What you're using now is Cinema클럽. 클럽 is the Korean word for "club."

It ended up fitting better than the original name ever would have. This whole product is built around stepping outside your usual catalogue: a film from somewhere else, a language you don't speak yet, a genre you've never trusted. A name that borrows a word from another language and sits it in the middle of an English one felt like the right shape for that, even though we didn't plan it that way.

클럽 means club in Korean.

How it started

Three friends, one running conversation.

Cinema클럽 was built by three friends who talk about the same handful of things constantly: art, culture, food, music, languages, movies, series, and whatever stories come out of all of it.

I'm the one who writes the code. I can't paint or draw, and nobody is handing me a microphone to rap into. I can sing, a little. Technology is the one thing I actually know how to build with.

Somewhere in the middle of another conversation about all the things we love, it clicked that I could stop just talking about the idea and actually build it. Technology is the thing I know best, so I used that to turn something we already cared about into a real product. That's how Cinema클럽 got made.

Why cinema

Cinema carries language, music, fashion, history, food, humor, fear and love, all folded into one place, along with a way of seeing the world that wasn't yours until you watched it.

The point

Less scrolling. More finding.

Most nights don't need forty more minutes of scrolling through the same six rows of thumbnails. They need one good answer.

That's what we're actually building: less scrolling, more finding something that fits you, and along the way, cultures, languages, creators and stories you'd probably have never come across on your own.

What it does

Films and TV, chosen around you.

Cinema클럽 starts with a few titles you love and learns your taste from there: your Verdicts, what you've watched, what you've saved to your Queue and what you've said isn't for you.

Tonight gives you one considered pick when you just want to press play, with where to stream it when that's known. Wander is for looking around: search, what's trending, hidden gems, and filters for genre and mood. Your Circle is the few people whose taste you trust, so you can ask them what fits tonight or send them something directly.

Everything you watch is kept with its date, and your Viewing Activity shows the rhythm of your year at a glance.
